Where They Started.
Maniapoto Fencing was established in the turbulent economy of 2020 and gained momentum quickly: its first contract was a large-scale fencing project alongside two other Māori businesses.
Patea and Jasmin wanted to take stock of the operation and lay strong foundations for the long run.
What We Did.
Rearranging crews to make it happen was no small task, but the team downed tools for a full day with Tania-Rose Tamati, our CEO. Together they worked through:
- The why. The purpose behind running the business.
- The how. A roadmap for the future.
- Values in practice. Objectives built around whanaungatanga (relationships and connection) and pukumahi (hard work), with work–life balance front and centre.
What Changed.
The team left with a clearly defined strategy for structuring the business as it grows, and a way to set achievable goals that move them towards their long-term objectives.
We came into our Business Planning session not knowing what to expect or what the outcome might be. We left feeling more secure with ourselves personally and as a business. The session gave us valuable clarity on our business goals, a new vision for our company, and provided ideas on how to better structure our business, our work-family ratio, and our team. What we liked most was that it helped us remember our "why" – why we do this.
