Where they started.
Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Pūkenga ki Tauranga Trust was set up to manage assets returned through the Treaty settlement. With a significant portfolio to look after, visibility and clear reporting matter.
When the Trust came to Ake, its management reporting system wasn't giving leadership what it needed.
What we did.
Management reports are how leadership keeps the board and internal stakeholders up to date on the mahi under way. So we:
- Worked out what was missing. We went through, in detail, what the previous reports weren't telling people.
- Built a new reporting system. One approach across the Trust and its two subsidiaries.
- Spotted idle cash. Funds were sitting in an account earning nothing. We advised on better use of that money and helped move it to an interest-bearing account.
What changed.
Leadership has reporting built around what it actually needs, across all three entities. And money that was sitting still is now earning its keep: the interest is expected to cover the year's accounting fees.
Ake do my personal accounts plus the accounts of four separate entities that I am or have been involved with. All of these entities are Māori organisations with complex needs that require specialist accounting care. Ake have been easy to work with, prompt with their responses and clear with their communication.
